The Club Deportivo Cuenca is a sports club from the city of Cuenca in Ecuador . It was founded in 1971. The first soccer team plays in Serie A, the first Ecuadorian league. She became Ecuadorian champion for the first time in 2004 and has been runner-up five times so far.

Deportivo Cuenca plays its home games at the Estadio Alejandro Serrano Aguilar stadium, which was built in 1945 and rebuilt in 1971 to create the club and is named after the then mayor and president of the club Alejandro Serrano Aguilar.

In the 1970s, the club celebrated its first successes, was twice runner-up and took part in the Copa Libertadores in 1976 and 1977 , but without being able to survive the group stage there. The club had to wait until 2004 for further success. Deportivo Cuenca was only the second club that is not based in Quito or Guayaquil to become Ecuadorian champions. Since the championship in 2004, the club has played regularly for the top places and was runner-up three times. With the successes in the domestic league, several appearances in the Copa Libertadores went hand in hand. In the 2009 season Cuenca was able to move into the round of 16 for the first time.
