The Estadio Alejandro Serrano Aguilar is a multifunctional stadium in Cuenca , Azuay Province , Ecuador .
It is currently mostly used for football matches and is the home of Deportivo Cuenca and Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Cuenca . The stadium can hold up to 16,540 spectators.
history
The stadium was opened on November 3, 1945 under the name Estadio Municipal "El Ejido". 25 years later it was renamed Estadio Alejandro Serrano Aguilar in honor of the longtime President of Deportivo Cuenca, the Ecuadorian politician Alejandro Serrano Aguilar . The stadium was one of the venues for the 1993 Copa America .
