Club de Alto Rendimiento Especializado Independiente del Valle , known as Independiente del Valle or simply Independiente , formerly Independiente José Terán is one established in 1958 Ecuadorian football club from Sangolquí , Pichincha , who is currently in the Serie A play.
history
The club Independiente del Valle was founded in 1958, but was only found in the lower classes of Ecuadorian football until 2007 when it rose to Serie B for the first time . In the second division Independiente became champions in 2009 and has therefore been playing in the first division since 2010 .
The greatest success so far was reaching the runner-up in 2013 and the associated qualification for international competitions. Independiente first participated in the Copa Libertadores and the Copa Sudamericana in 2014 .
Until 2014, the official name of the club was Club Social y Deportivo Independiente José Terán . But since it had been known as Independiente del Valle for a long time, it was renamed.
In the 2014 season, Independiente finished second in both half-series and in the overall table and was able to qualify again for the Copa Libertadores . However, the club did not survive the first round. In 2015 Independiente finished third in Serie A and qualified for the Copa Libertadores for the third time in a row . After favored opponents such as last year's winner CA River Plate and Boca Juniors from Argentina as well as UNAM Pumas from Mexico were eliminated on the way to the final , the club lost to Atlético Nacional from Colombia in the final . The final reached represents the greatest success in the club's history.
Stadion
Independiente del Valle plays its home games at the Estadio Rumiñahui . The stadium was inaugurated in 1941 and has a capacity of around 7500 seats. The club played the home games of the knockout round of the Copa Libertadores 2016 at the Estadio Olímpico Atahualpa in Quito .
