Guayaquil City FC is an Ecuadorian football club from Guayaquil , Guayas Province , founded in 2007 under the name Club Deportivo River Ecuador , which currently plays in Serie A and has had its current name since 2017.
history
The River Ecuador Association was founded in Guayaquil in 2007 as an offshoot of the Argentine association CA River Plate . River Ecuador started in 2008 in the second category, from which the promotion to Serie B was made in 2009 . In 2014, the club was runner-up in the second division and rose to Serie A for the first time .
The club's name was changed to Guayaquil City FC in 2017.
Stadion
Guayaquil City plays its home games at Estadio Christian Benítez Betancourt . The stadium was inaugurated in 2014 and has a capacity of 10,150 seats. The stadium is named after the Ecuadorian international Christian Benítez , who died in 2013 .
