Guillermo Sanguinetti , full name Guillermo Óscar Sanguinetti Giordano , (born June 21, 1966 in Montevideo ) is a former Uruguayan football player and current coach. He is the father of the football player Nicolás Sanguinetti .

Player career

The 1.75 meter tall defensive player "Topo" Sanguinetti was at the beginning of his career in 1985 in the ranks of Nacional Montevideo . From 1986 to 1987 he played for Central Español . He then worked from 1988 to 1989 with the Montevideo Wanderers and 1989 also with Sud América . A career station at the Racing Club de Montevideo followed from 1990 to 1991 . He then moved to Argentina to work at Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata in mid-1991 . There he will be a member of the management until mid-2003. For the Argentines he played in 383 national and 18 international matches, making him the player with the most appearances in the club's history. Partly with the omission of Nacional Montevideo, the Uruguayan association Cacao was also run as a club station for him.

National team

Coaching

After his active career, Sanguinetti worked from October 2004 to the end of June 2005, initially as an assistant coach at Club Olimpo . He then worked in the same position from the beginning of August 2005 to mid-July 2006 at the Argentinos Juniors . Immediately afterwards he took a position as assistant coach at Club Atlético Peñarol . This engagement ended in the middle of 2007. In the first nine months of 2008 he was head coach at Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata . On August 14, 2009, he took over the position of the responsible coach at the team of the Uruguayan first division club Atlético Cerro . On December 2, 2009, the collaboration between him and the club ended. At Sportivo Luqueño he had his next head coach position from December 2010 to February 2011.
