Edgardo Adinolfi , full name Edgardo Alberto Adinolfi Duarte , (born April 27, 1974 in Montevideo , Uruguay ) is a former Uruguayan football player .

Player career

The 1.77 meter tall left full-back Adinolfi began his career in 1992 at River Plate Montevideo . In the 1995/96 season he then played for the Israeli club Maccabi Haifa and scored one goal in 22 completed games. For Clausura 1996 he joined Peñarol , came there until 1999 on at least 36 league appearances with two personal hits and stayed with the Aurinegros until 1999. During this period, his club won the Uruguayan championship in 1996, 1997 and 1999. In the Torneo Apertura in 1999 he was already working for Peñarol and for his new Argentine employer Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata . This was followed by a first stop in Europe in the 1999/2000 season, where he played once for KRC Harelbeke in the Belgian Jupiler League , but in 2000 he was back in the ranks of his previous club from the Argentine city of La Plata . In the 2001/02 season he was a member of the squad of the Greek club Ionikos , but in 2002 he returned to Uruguay and played in five meetings of the Torneo Clasificatorio for Centro Atlético Fénix . From there, Adinolfi went back to the southern neighboring country. There he represented the colors of the Newell's Old Boys until 2004 , for whom he had a total of 47 stakes with three hits until the end of the Torneo Clausura in 2004. The 2004/05 season held ready for Adinolfi another visit to Europe. In eleven games he was able to prove himself at the Spanish second division club FC Pontevedra . His last three positions afterwards were again the Newell's Old Boys, Tiro Federal and the Cypriot club Olympiakos Nicosia .

National team

Adinolfi took part with the Uruguayan U-20 selection in the U-20 South American Championship in 1992 and was runner-up in the South American championship. During the tournament he was used by coach Ángel Castelnoble six times (no goal). The following year he reached the quarter-finals of the Junior World Cup in 1993 with the Celeste . The defender was also a member of the Uruguayan senior team . He made his debut there under coach Héctor Núñez in the 1-0 away win over Peru in the Copa Parra del Riego on October 19, 1994 as a member of the starting lineup. In total, he completed 18 full internationals for his home country until his last appearance on December 21, 1997, in which he hit the opposing goal once. As part of his national team career, he won the 1995 Copa America with Uruguay and took part in the 1997 FIFA Confederations Cup with his home country .

Trainer and functionary career

After his active career, Adinolfi called "Brasilero" worked as assistant coach to Guillermo Sanguinetti from January 2008 to the end of August 2008 at Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata and later at Diego Alonso's side at Peñarol. From mid-August 2009 to mid-December 2009 he worked as an assistant coach at Club Atlético Cerro . After all, he coached the River Plate Montevideo U16s for four years . Since the beginning of March 2016 he has held the position of junior coordinator for the teams in the 3rd to 8th divisions with the Montevideans. In mid-March 2016, however, he was announced again as Sanguinetti's assistant in his new coaching position at the Ecuadorian club Club Deportivo River Ecuador . Together with Sanguinetti, he left the club on November 8th of that year and has been the coaching team at Delfín Sporting Club with him since January 2017 in the same role distribution . There he and the team won the first championship phase of 2017, which for the first time in the club's history also ensured qualification for the Copa Libertadores .
