Olympiacos Nicosia is a football club from the Cypriot capital Nicosia . It was founded in 1931 . The club's colors are black and green. The club currently plays in the first-class First Division .
Sporting successes
Olympiacos Nicosia is one of the founding members of the Cypriot Premier League . In 1967, 1969 and 1971 the Association of Cypriot Masters became.
In 1977 they won the cup for the first time in the club's history with a 2-0 win against Alki Larnaka . In 1991 Olympiacos Nicosia reached the final of the Cypriot Football Cup , but was defeated by the Omonia Nicosia team .
In the European club competitions Olympiacos Nicosia has not been very successful so far. In the 2001/02 season Olympiacos Nicosia reached the second round of the UEFA Cup after two wins against the Hungarian club Dunaferr SE , but then retired against Club Bruges .
In the 2007/08 season Olympiacos Nicosia rose as 14th and bottom of the table from the First Division , for the third time in its history after 1984 and 1998. In the Cypriot Second Division , the club just missed promotion to fourth in the table in the following season. In 2010, however, Olympiacos celebrated their return to the top Cypriot division with third place. Since relegation in 2013 Olympiakos has been playing second class again.
