Paphos FC ( Greek Πάφος FC) is a Cypriot football club from Paphos . The association was created in 2014 through the merger of AEK Kouklia and AE Paphos . The club currently plays in the First Division , the top division in Cyprus. The club plays its home games at the Geroskipou Stadium in Geroskipou .
history
In the 2013/14 season AEK Kouklia played for the first time in the First Division , but was relegated at the end of the season. AE Paphos played in the Second Division , but had great financial difficulties and the club were therefore deducted several points. After the season, talks began about a merger between the two clubs in order to form a healthy and economically competitive team in the region.
On June 9, 2014, both clubs agreed to merge to form a new team called Paphos FC . On June 10th the first meeting of the new club was held, at which some politicians and football players from Paphos were present. The first president of the association became Christakis Kaizer, who was previously president of AEK Kouklia and was one of the main initiators of the merger. The first coach was Radmilo Ivančević , who previously coached AE Paphos.
In its first season, the club entered the Second Division, the second highest division in Cyprus, and made it to the First Division as second. However, you got off after only one season and played again in the Second Division, in which, however, the immediate promotion succeeded.
