AEL Limassol ( Greek : Αθλητική Ένωση Λεμεσού) is a Cypriot sports club from Limassol . The association was founded in 1930. The soccer team plays their home games in the Tsirio , which has a capacity of around 14,000 spectators.
In addition to a very successful basketball and volleyball department , the club also has a cycling and bowling department .
History of the football department
AEL has been the Cypriot champion six times and the Cypriot cup winner six times.
The team has participated in the European Cup five times so far, but was eliminated each time in the first round. In 1996 AEL had to relegate to the 2nd division for the first time in the club's history, but managed to get promoted again immediately.
