Mutiu Adepoju (born December 22, 1970 in Ibadan ) is a former Nigerian football player and current coach .
Career
In the club
After various positions in his home country, the midfielder moved to Castilla CF , Real Madrid's second team , in the Spanish Segunda División in 1989 . He spent three seasons there before being transferred to Racing Santander , which was then in the same category . In the first season 1992/93 he was promoted to the Primera División , where he spent three more years with the Cantabrians . In the summer of 1996 he moved to Real Sociedad , where he stayed until 2000. That year, the Nigerian left Spanish football after eleven years to play for Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia . After a brief return to the Iberian Peninsula to UD Salamanca , Mutiu went to the Turkish Süper Lig to Samsunspor , then to AEL Limassol in Cyprus . Finally he went back to Spain, where he played for two years with the lower-class clubs CD Eldense and CD Cobeña.
International
Mutiu Adepoju played a total of 49 games for the Nigerian national soccer team , with her he took part in the soccer world championships in 1994 , 1998 and 2002 . He was also part of the squad for the 1992 African Cup of Nations and the 1995 Confederations Cup .
Career as a trainer and manager
At the end of his career, Adepoju became Chief Administrator of his former club Shooting Stars FC . This post accompanied Adepoju until the winter of 2013. On January 15, 2014, he began his first coaching position, in which he took over the head coach post of the Kwara Football Academy .
