al-Ittihad ( Arabic الاتحاد al-Ittiḥād ) is a Saudi Arabian football club from Jeddah . The club, founded in 1927, plays its home games at King Abdullah Sport City Stadium. The stadium has a capacity of 62,241 seats. The club colors are yellow and black.
The club celebrated its greatest successes in 2004 and 2005 when it won the AFC Champions League . As a representative of the Asian Football Confederation , the club took part in the FIFA Club World Cup in Japan in 2005 and reached 4th place. In early 2007, the club management surprisingly announced the commitment of the Portuguese star Luís Figo for the summer; However, the change did not materialize and Figo stayed with Inter Milan . After finishing second in 2008, the club won its eighth championship title in the 2009 season. In the AFC Champions League 2009 al-Ittihad reached the final and had to admit defeat to Pohang Steelers from South Korea .
