Henri Patrick M'Boma Dem (born November 15, 1970 in Douala ) is a former Cameroonian football player .

Life

At the age of two, M'Boma and his family moved from their native Douala to the French capital, Paris . In the following years he was seen more as a French talent and moved from the first football station Stade de L'Est to the youth department of Paris Saint-Germain in his youth .

There you quickly noticed the strengths of the center forward , which consist in a body-hugging style of play and a strong shot on goal with the left foot. At the age of 19 he was promoted to the club's professional division, but was initially not used and was then loaned to the second division club LB Châteauroux in 1992 .

In Châteauroux he was relegated to the third division in his first season. In the direct resurgence in the following season 1993/94 he had a large share with a total of 17 goals and then returned to Paris.

There he still did not make the breakthrough he had hoped for, he was only used in eight championship games and was loaned to league rivals FC Metz for the 1995/96 season. With the club he won his first title with the league cup and started his third attempt in Paris after the end of the season.

After he could not develop positively there again, he accepted an offer from the Japanese J. League club Gamba Osaka in the same year 1997 and immediately scored 25 goals for his new club, which was a sporting development from relegation candidate to one experienced serious championship candidate. During this time, M'Boma was known for his achievements as the Osaka Black Panther . Shortly after the beginning of the following season 1998/99 and following the 1998 World Cup in France , he received an offer from the Italian Serie A promoted team Cagliari Calcio and played for the Sardinian club for two years .

When Cagliari was relegated from the top Italian league in 2000, M'Boma moved to AC Parma and came for the first time to international appearances at club level. He finished fourth with his team and narrowly missed the group stage for the UEFA Champions League . During the winter break of the current season, the English Premier League club from Sunderland signed him on loan. There he could not convince with the exception of a goal against Tottenham Hotspur .

This was followed by a brief guest appearance at the Libyan association Al-Ittihad , which was headed by As-Saadi al-Qaddhafi , son of the revolutionary leader Muammar al-Gaddafi . He moved back to Japan in 2003, where he joined the Tokyo Verdy club in 1969 . In his final season he then played for Vissel Kobe before he announced the end of his football career in May 2005 due to ongoing injury problems.

M'Boma scored 33 goals in a total of 57 international matches for the Cameroonian national soccer team . After his debut in 1995, he participated in the 1998 World Championships in France and in 2002 in Japan and South Korea . In addition, he won both the African Championship and the gold medal at the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000 . In the same year he was named Africa's Footballer of the Year . In his last great success in 2002 he was able to win the African Championship again.
