Clemerson de Araújo Soares , Araújo for short , (born August 8, 1977 in Caruaru ) is a former Brazilian soccer player .
Career
The 1.72 meter tall striker began his career in the professional department of Goiás EC , where he was under contract for six years. In 2004 he moved to the Japanese club Shimizu S-Pulse , but only played there for one season. A year later he signed a contract with Gamba Osaka , where he was also only under contract for one year. After two years in Japan, he moved to the Brazilian club Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte for two years , where he played a goalless league game in 2006. The much stronger year was 2007, in which he played 14 league games and could show five goals in the end.
After two years in Brazil, he moved to Qatar to the al-Gharafa Sports Club . With al-Gharafa, Araújo won the championship three times and was also named the best player in the league in the 2008/09 season. In addition to the league, the Emir of Qatar Cup and the Qatar Crown Prince Cup are also among his achievements. The 2011 and 2012 seasons he was under contract with Fluminense FC , but only played six league games. In 2012 Araújo moved to Náutico Capibaribe , where he was used in 33 games in the A series , scoring eight goals this season. After he was engaged for a short time at Atlético Mineiro and did not play any league games there, he was in the Goiás EC squad in the 2013 and 2014 seasons . Araújo was able to raise a total of 18 league appearances before ending his active career after the 2014 season.
