The Campeonato Brasileiro Série B 1999 was the 21st season of the second football league in Brazil .

Season course

The competition started its season on August 1, 1999 and ended on December 12, 1999. The championship was organized by the national association CBF . At the end of the season, the Goiás EC celebrated the championship.

The competition was held in three phases. In the first round , all 22 clubs played against each other once. The eight clubs moved into the second round, the worst six clubs relegated to the third division. In the second round , the eight clubs met in a knockout round. In this, the clubs played against each other three times. The winners moved into the final round, which was played in group mode again.

The group winner of the final round became champions. This and the group runner-up should move up to the first division in 2000 . The 2000 championship could not be organized by the CBF due to lawsuits and a FIFA decision. As a result, no club was promoted or relegated. The EC Bahia and América Mineiro were allowed to play in the group of the original Série A clubs in 2000, although they only came third in 1999 in Série B. Completed sixth.
