The competition started its new season on August 10, 1995 and ended on December 16, 1995. The championship was organized by the national association CBF . At the end of the season Atletico Paranaense was able to celebrate the championship.
The competition was held in four group phases. The first round consisted of four groups of six clubs each. The four best in a group moved into the second round. In the second round , the clubs met in four groups of four teams each. The best two clubs got into the third round . Here, two groups of four were played against each other. Again, the top two clubs in each group qualified for the finals.
The group winner of the final round became champions. This and the group runner-up rose to the first division in 1996 . The two clubs in the overall final table at the bottom of the table were relegated to the third division.
In the first round, the 24 participants competed against each other in four groups of six clubs each. The top four clubs in each group advanced to the second round.
The final round was decided on the last group match day, December 16, 1995. Atletico Paranaense had to win their last game to be champions, but had to hope that Coritiba FC would n't win their game. Coritiba would have been enough if Atletico hadn't been victorious.
Atletico won their game and Coritiba drew, making Atletico champions. In general, Atletico's last game against Central SC is therefore referred to as the title game.
The table was used to determine the placement of the individual teams in the season. At times it was used by the association to determine an eternal ranking list. It is made up of all the games played. In the sorting, reaching the respective final phase has priority over the points scored.
At the end of the season, the AA Ponte Preta and the EC Democrata were relegated. Due to financial problems with his national association, but the Barra do Garças FC had to relegate. Ponte Preta could thus remain in the league.
