After the tenth day of play, play was interrupted during the 2014 World Cup .

Lawsuit by Portuguesa

Portuguesa had filed a lawsuit against his relegation to Série B in 2014. The club had been sentenced to relegation after that the player Héverton on the final day of the Series A 2013 began irregular. Héverton had received a suspension for two games after the 36th match day. Nevertheless, he was substituted on by the club on the 38th match day, the last of the season, in the home game against Gremio Porto Alegre in the 78th minute for Wanderson . Because of this commitment, Portuguesa was punished by the Sports Court STJD with a deduction of four points. As a result, the club fell in the final table from twelfth to 17th place, which was a relegation place.

After the negative result before the sports court, Portuguesa turned to a civil court. On April 2, 2014, the club received this right. The CBF was forced to return the lost points to the club and invalidate the result of the STJD. The association was able to have this injunction canceled by the São Paulo Court of Justice.

In the following months there were further injunctions, all of which had the goal of keeping Portuguesa in the A series. The CBF was able to have all injunctions dismissed in court and published its 2014 schedule with Portuguesa in Série B. On the day before the first game of the season on April 18, 2014 away from Joinville EC , the club learned of another injunction. A request to the CBF to postpone the game due to the ruling was not granted. The club therefore entered the game with reservations. 18 minutes into the game the order came and the Portuguesa officials decided to end the game. After the Portuguesa team did not return to the pitch after 30 minutes of waiting, the referee declared the meeting over. The STJD scored the game 3-0 for Joinville and penalized Portuguesa with a penalty of 50,000 real.

At the end of the season, the club finished last in the table and relegated to the C series.

Lawsuit by Icasa

On April 15, three days after the competition began, the ADRC Icasa obtained an injunction in a court in Rio de Janeiro. With this judgment, the club obtained the right to participate in Série A 2014 . Icasa argued in its lawsuit that last year's fourth in the table, Figueirense FC, irregularly used a player in their game against América Mineiro on April 28, 2013 . The STJD found that the lawsuit was legitimate, but that the deadline for filing had expired. As a result, the CBF was able to revoke the injunction. Icasa therefore remained in Serie B.

América Mineiro deducted points

On September 15, América Mineiro was punished with the loss of 21 points for the irregular formation of Eduardo . The player had already played for São Bernardo FC in the São Paulo state championship and for Portuguesa in Série B that season. According to the rules of the CBF, a player was not allowed to compete in national competitions for more than two clubs in one season. Eduardo had been used in one game and was on the reserve bench for three. On October 2, the STJD reduced the penalty to six points and a fine of 20,000 reals. The STJD only assessed Eduardo's actual effort. Without this point deduction, the club would have been promoted to the Série A 2015.
