history

The association was founded as Associação Sampaio Corrêa Futebol Clube and was named after a seaplane that landed on December 12, 1922 off the coast of São Luís. With 32 titles he is the record champion of the Maranhão state.

During its existence, the club is regularly represented in the various leagues of the Brazilian national championship . He finished the Série B in 1972 and the Série C in 1997 as first in the table. After a series of relegations, he was promoted to Série C in 2012 as master of Série D and from there, after one season, to Série B, in which he still plays today.
