Copa Norte

The Copa Norte (Portuguese for Northern Cup ) was a regional soccer cup competition in Brazil , which was organized from 1997 to 2002 by the national soccer association CBF . With winning the cup from 1997 to 1999 the qualification for the international Copa CONMEBOL and from 2000 to 2002 for the national Copa dos Campeões was connected.

The "Northern Cup" was played between the clubs of the regional associations of the North Region and those of the regional associations of Maranhão and Piauí of the Northeast region . After an elimination tournament, the cup winner was usually determined in two finals. If both ends in a draw, the decision could be made either in a penalty shoot-out or on the basis of a team's overall record.
