Norte Region (Brazil)
The Região Norte ( Portuguese for "Northern Region") is one of five major statistical regions in Brazil . It includes the seven states of Acre , Amapá , Amazonas , Pará , Rondônia , Roraima and Tocantins . Its largest and most important cities are Manaus , Belém and Porto Velho .
The Região Norte makes up 45.27% of the area of Brazil. At the same time, it is the region with the second fewest inhabitants, namely 15,864,454 in the 2010 census.
The north-west is underdeveloped industrially and not very well developed. In return, it is home to the largest ecosystem on earth, the Amazon basin .
