history
In 1830 the construction of a planned town began. As in Karlsruhe , streets fan out from the central square, which in turn are intersected by semicircles. The Paris of the Haussmann era is said to have been the model for the development . The provisional self-government rights as Vila Boa Vista do Rio Branco were brought about on July 9, 1890 by the then governor of the Amazonas province to which it had belonged, Augusto Ximeno Villeroy . On August 27, 1926, Boa Vista do Rio Branco was elevated to a cidade and in 1938 the name was shortened to Boa Vista.
