history

The founding of Joinville EC on January 29, 1976 results from the merger of the football departments of the previously rival clubs América FC and Caxias FC , both of which are based in Joinville.

The club was the 1977 in the Series A national football championship in Brazil represented until the 1987 Série B were relegated. In 2004, the descent took place in the Série C and 2007 finally in the Série D . In 2010 he was promoted to the Série C, which he completed the following year as the first in the table and thus qualified for the B Série.

As champions in 2014 of the Série B, the club has been promoted to the top division for the first time in 27 years, but after only one season ( Série A 2015 ), as bottom of the table, it has to leave the second division again. Winning the South Brazilian Super Cup in 2009 represents the JEC's greatest success at national level to date.

At the state level, Joinville EC has won the state championship twelve times and the state cup four times since it was founded, establishing itself as the third force in Santa Catarina alongside Avaí FC and Figueirense FC .

In 2015, the national championship, which was initially won, was subsequently revoked after a rule violation.
