Eduardo Ribeiro dos Santos , called Eduardo , (born August 5, 1980 in São João do Piauí ) is a Brazilian football player .
Career
The devout Christian Eduardo ventured into Europe in 2000. He switched to the offspring of the Grasshopper Club Zurich . He soon made his breakthrough in the first team, in which he was an indispensable player. He was part of the championship team with Richard Núñez , who won the championship title for the city of Zurich in 2002/03.
In January 2007, Eduardo moved, half a year before his contract ended, to the French second division club EA Guingamp . After Ricardo Cabanas, he was the second Grasshopper player to move to Guingamp . Eduardo achieved a particular success there in May 2009: his two goals secured the Bretons winning the Coupe de France 2008/09 in the final of the French cup competition . France Football then referred to him as "Breizhilien", a play on words from "Breizh" (Breton for Brittany) and "Brésilien" (French: Brazilian). For the 2009/10 season Eduardo moved to the first division RC Lens , where he signed a contract until June 2012. Further positions at AC Ajaccio and FC Metz followed . In 2014 he returned to his native Brazil and has since played for five different clubs. He has been under contract with Ríver AC in the fourth-class Serie D since the beginning of 2019 .
