society

At the end of the 2000/2001 season, Núñez came from Danubio FC for a transfer fee of 4.5 million to Grasshopper Club Zurich . In his first game for the GCZ against FC St. Gallen in the Hardturm stadium, he scored three goals and contributed a template . GC became Swiss champion for the 26th time. In the following years Núñez played very successfully for the GCZ. In the 2001/2002 season he was together with Christian Giménez from FC Basel with 28 goals for the first time top scorer in Switzerland. He was able to repeat this success in the following season 2002/2003 with 27 goals. He scored 85 goals and 71 assists in 127 games in the Swiss NLA / Super League .

After about four years at GC, the differences of opinion between Núñez, the then coach Marcel Koller and the Zurich management began to pile up, and Núñez played very uncreative and unmotivated in the following months. Since he was dissatisfied and should receive even less wages for the next season, he refused a contract extension and he left the GCZ in the winter break of 2004/05. A day later, the striker signed a new contract with Atlético Madrid . But Núñez also left Atletico Madrid after a little over a year and moved to CD Cruz Azul on a free transfer . There he was temporarily used as a midfielder .

At the beginning of 2006 he moved for the Clausura 2006 within the Mexican league to CF Pachuca and celebrated with this club its 7th championship title at the end of May 2006. He scored the only goal in the 79th minute of the final second leg. (First leg 0-0).

He then moved back to Cruz Azul for Apertura 2006 and scored a goal in the 3-2 start win on August 6, 2006 against Pachuca. In September 2008 he signed a one-year contract with Peñarol . After eight goals in 21 league games and two appearances in the Copa Libertadores , he joined the Rampla Juniors in the 2009/10 season , for whom he has played since then. 56 games and 15 goals scored in the Primera División are there for him to book. In the 2012/13 season he came again for the starting point of his career forming league competitor Danubio. For the club based in the Barrio Jardines del Hipódromo , he played 23 or 24 first division games (two goals) in the 2012/13 season, depending on the sources. At the beginning of 2014, he moved back to the then second division Rampla Juniors. In the rest of the second division season 2013/14 he came there to 14 second division appearances, in which he scored seven goals and finally rose with the club in the Primera División. There he played 20 first division games in the 2014/15 season and scored four times in the opposing goal. Then he ended his career.
