On the other hand, Deportivo Toluca was able to decide all three home games in his favor: 2-1 in the league round and 1-0 and 2-1 in the Liguillas.

    The Liguillas

In the Liguillas (the Spanish name for the play-offs ) of Apertura and Clausura, there were a total of 14 encounters, each played in home and away games. In the total of 28 Liguilla games, there were 12 home and 10 away wins and 6 draws. Amazingly, the results of Apertura and Clausura were identical: in both tournaments there were 6 home wins (with 3 draws) and 5 away wins. The goal difference from both tournaments was 37:39 from the perspective of the home teams (17:20 in the Apertura and 20:19 in the Clausura). A total of 76 goals were scored, which corresponds to an average of 2.71 goals (and from the perspective of the home team is 1.32 to 1.39).

The highest home win in the Liguillas was achieved by CF Monterrey against Tecos de la UAG (4-0 in the quarter-finals of Apertura 2005), the highest away victories were won by Tigres UNAM (4-1 at America), CF Monterrey (3-0 at the Tecos) and Toluca (3-0 in the final second leg of Apertura 2005 at CF Monterrey). The highest-scoring game of Apertura 2005 took place in the final first leg between Toluca and Monterrey (3: 3), the highest-scoring game of Clausura 2006 in the quarter-final second leg between Jaguares and Guadalajara (2: 4). In this context, some special events should be mentioned: Chivas Guadalajara played a total of four games, both of which were lost at home and both were won away. The aforementioned 4-1 victory of the Tigres at América came about in the quarter-final second leg of the Apertura, when the Tigres were able to make up for the 1: 3 first leg defeat they had previously suffered on their own place and moved into the semi-finals, where it then came to the Clásico Regiomontano : the Duel with the neighbor CF Monterrey. Both teams used their home advantage (the Tigres 1-0, the Rayados 2-1), so that the more points scored in the Apertura (35 against 22) qualified the CF Monterrey for the finals against Deportivo Toluca.

Of the 18 teams in the league round, 13 teams qualified for the Liguillas. Ten teams were able to qualify once for the Liguilla and three teams qualified twice. The most successful teams were Deportivo Toluca and Club de Fútbol Pachuca. Both won a title and failed in the other tournament in the semi-finals. The third team with two finals was the CD Cruz Azul, which was always eliminated in the quarterfinals. His opponent in both cases was Deportivo Toluca, who was able to prevail in both cases (in the Apertura with 1: 0 and 0: 0, in the Clausura with 2: 1 and 1: 1).
