Primera División (Mexico) 1973/74

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 1973/74 season was the 31st regular championship round in Mexico since the introduction of the Primera División in the 1943/44 season.

The relegated from the previous season , CF Pachuca , was replaced by the promoted CF Madero.

As in the previous season, the two best-placed teams in each group (Cruz Azul and Monterrey in Group A and Atlético Español and Puebla in Group B) qualified for the semi-finals for the championship, which was also the best-placed team this season Team of the league round (Cruz Azul) was won.

In the fight to stay in the league, the last two in the group (Laguna and San Luis) faced each other. Also this year, the last placed in the overall table (San Luis) lost the relegation round and was relegated to the second division .

Despite the additional play-offs (since 1970/71 , the championship in Mexico has not been decided on the basis of the overall table, although all teams still play one home and one away game against all other teams in the league), all four previous teams continued Seasons ultimately the sporting fairness: this time, too, the team with the highest points of the entire season became champions and the team with the lowest points was relegated.
