The Club de Fútbol Laguna was a Mexican football club from the city of Torreón in the state of Coahuila .

history

Founded on November 16, 1953, it was the oldest of a total of three clubs from the city of Torreón that had previously been represented in the Primera División . At the same time, in the summer of 1968, he was also the first club to make the leap to the top division in the country. A year later he was followed by the CF Torreón and so the city was represented over a period of five years with two clubs in the first division. But both were regularly in the lower table region. His best - and only single-digit - placement was achieved by CF Laguna with ninth place in the 1975/76 season.

Like its later successor Santos Laguna , CF Laguna was named after the district - the Comarca Lagunera - whose center is the city of Torreón. The name "Laguna" comes from two - in the meantime dried up - lagoons in the vicinity. The city of Torreón likes to refer to itself as "Perla de la Laguna" (the pearl of the lagoon) and has also integrated this motto into its coat of arms.

After ten years of membership in the Primera División, the club was converted into Deportivo Neza in the summer of 1978 and replaced accordingly in the first division.
