Jakob Knöß

Jakob Knöß (born June 11, 1881 in Egelsbach , † February 23, 1960 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German trade unionist .

After training as a bricklayer, he was district manager of the German Construction Trade Association for Hesse and Hesse-Nassau until the unions were forcibly brought into line by the National Socialists in 1933 . From 1945 he campaigned for the rebuilding of the trade unions, later also as head of the building trade association in Hesse. At the founding congress of IG Bau-Steine-Erden in 1949, he was elected first federal chairman, and he held this position until 1957. Georg Leber was his successor . He is the winner of the plaque of honor of the city of Frankfurt am Main .
