Primera División (Mexico) 1957/58
The 1957/58 season was the 15th season of the 1943/44 introduced top Mexican professional football league .
particularities
The 1950s were by far the most successful era in the Mexican state of Morelos , whose teams won a total of three championship titles in this decade. It began in 1954 with Marte FC and continued with the success of the CD Zacatepec in the seasons 1954/55 and 1957/58. Only the teams from Jalisco achieved three championship titles in the same period ( CF Atlas 1951 and CD Guadalajara in the seasons 1956/57 and 1958/59). At the same time, this year's success of the Cañeros was the last championship title that a team from Morelos could win.
This season's top scorer, “Charro” Lara , was also under contract with the champions Zacatepec. In contrast to the Cañeros , he was able to repeat his success of being the best scorer in the league twice in the seasons 1960/61 and 1961/62 (here tied with "Chava" Reyes from the master CD Guadalajara).
Exits and additions
After Puebla FC had taken a year off in the preseason due to financial problems and the league was played with only 13 teams, he withdrew from the league at the beginning of the season due to ongoing problems and was replaced by the admission of Atlético Morelia .
The athletic relegated from the previous season, CF Monterrey , was replaced by the CD Zamora , which had managed to return to the top division immediately after being relegated in 1956.
