Primera División (Mexico) 1981/82
The 1981/82 season was the 39th regular championship round in Mexico since the introduction of the Primera División in the 1943/44 season.
The relegated from the previous season , Unión de Curtidores , was replaced by the promoted Atlético Morelia.
As already practiced in the previous season, the competition was divided into 4 groups of 5 teams each. Regardless of this, each team in the league continued to play against each other twice (in one home and one away game). At the end of the league round, the two best-placed teams in each group qualified for the final round, which, starting with the quarter-finals, was played in play-off mode.
The two teams that had the fewest points during the entire season faced each other in a final. In these finals it was about staying in the House of Lords. As in the previous year, the Club Atlas from Guadalajara was able to prevail. Club Deportivo Tampico had to go into the second division , while the city of Tampico continued to see first division football through the re-establishment of the Tampico-Madero FC operated by the oil workers' union , with the simultaneous takeover of the license for Atletas Campesinos, which will no longer play first-class in the future .

1 The match on the 36th match day between CF Atlante and Atletas Campesinos was played on April 29, 1982 in the newly opened stadium in Santa Cruz Tlaxcala , Tlaxcala , and is considered to be its official opening game.
2 The match between CF Monterrey and Atlético Potosino on February 27, 1982 was abandoned in the 80th minute when the score was 2: 1 for the hosts after the visiting club's players left the pitch prematurely in protest against some decisions made by the referees . The result at the time the game was abandoned was included in the rating.

Relegation round
The two teams with the fewest points (26 each) contested the relegation games to avoid relegation at the end of the season. After both had won their home game 1-0 each, a third game was required. This was held in the Estadio Plan de San Luis Potosí and won 3: 1 by the Club Atlas Guadalajara.
