Evanivaldo Castro Silva (born April 28, 1948 in Salvador da Bahia ) is a former football player from Brazil , who celebrated his greatest successes in Mexico , where he was a total of eight top scorer in the Primera División . He was also known by his nickname “Cabinho” (non-commissioned officer), which he received because of his preference for military camouflage clothing.

Career

Cabinho arrived in Mexico on July 19, 1974 at the age of 26 and scored a total of 16 goals in his first season there. Although he still lagged behind his possibilities in 1974/75, he already provided a foretaste of the coming years. Because in the seven seasons from 1975/76 to 1981/82 he was the top scorer in the first division of Mexico seven times in a row: in the first four seasons in the jersey of the UNAM Pumas and then in the dress of the CF Atlante , both clubs from Mexico City . In his “worst” season within these seven years, he “only” scored 26 goals - and had to share the top scorer's crown with his teammate Hugo Sánchez , who was also under contract with the Pumas in that season (1978/79). In the remaining six seasons he never scored less than 29 goals and in 1976/77 he even had 34 goals. He scored a total of 213 goals in these seven seasons alone, which corresponds to an annual average of 30.4 goals.

He later played for Club León , in whose ranks he was once again top scorer in the top Mexican league in 1984/85 with 23 goals, and for the UANL Tigres .

During his entire playing career in Mexico, Castro played 429 games in which he scored 312 goals. This corresponds to an average goal score of 0.75 per game. The striker became more frequent than any other top scorer in Mexico and became the top scorer in the Liga MX with his 312 goals .
