Primera División (Mexico) 1956/57
The 1956/57 season was the 14th season of the 1943/44 introduced highest Mexican football professional league .
particularities
Because the Puebla FC got the requested one-year break from the league due to financial problems, the 1956/57 season was played with only 13 teams.
The champions were for the first time the team of the CD Guadalajara , consisting only of Mexican players , which quickly developed into the most popular football club in Mexico thanks to its personnel policy and the early successes (another six championship titles were added by 1965). Their striker “Mellone” Gutiérrez , who was also the top scorer in the Mexican league with a total of 19 goals, played a decisive role in this first success of the Chivasi .
Moved up and down
Already in the season 1945/46 in the top division of Mexican football represented CF Monterrey managed by the ten years later-won championship of the Segunda División to return to football upper house and replaced the relegated in the preseason CD Zamora . At the end of the season, the two clubs swapped places again.
