Primera División (Mexico) 1952/53
The 1952/53 season was the tenth season of the highest Mexican professional football league introduced in 1943/44 . For the first and only time, the CD Tampico won the championship.
Moved up and down
At the end of the previous season, the CF La Piedad rose to the top division for the first time, but had to return to the Segunda División at the end of the 1952/53 season. It was only 49 years later that the Reboceros managed to return to the first division, which was limited to one season (2001/02) even at this point. They were replaced in the 1953/54 season by the promoted Deportivo Toluca .

The traditional club Marte moved from Mexico City to Cuernavaca after the season .
The two highest results of the season were achieved on the same day. On September 14, 1952 - it was already the ninth game day - Guadalajara defeated the later relegated La Piedad with a record result of 7-0, while Club Atlante defeated Club America 6-0. The match between Atlantistas and Americanistas was the most important derby in capital football at that time .
The meeting with the most hits took place on November 13, 1952 (18th matchday) and was won by Atlas 5-3 against Necaxa . The most successful goalscorer in this game was Atlista Armando Maciel with a total of four goals and a hat trick between the 17th and 30th minutes.
In addition to the champions Tampico (nine wins and two draws) also the ninth Oro (six wins and five draws) remained without a home defeat.
