It began so promisingly for the club, which was founded in September 1951 and which played its first season in 1951/52 in the Segunda Division - which was still second class at the time - and immediately became champions. This success gave CF La Piedad a place in the football club as early as 1952/53. However, the club was relegated after a year and then went through a 48-year long dry spell before he made the long-awaited return to the Primera División , the top division in Mexican club football.

Initially, the 2001/02 season did not go particularly well for the newly promoted team, who ended the first half of the season ( Apertura ) as bottom of the group. But the second half of the season ( Clausura ) saw the best Reboceros (so the team's nickname, which is derived from the word rebozo , a traditional cape) of all time. With an impressive record of 37 points, La Piedad was the best team in the second half of the season and easily reached the play-offs. There they lost, however, already in the quarterfinals twice 1: 3 against the eventual champions America .

However, because the club sold its first division license for the next season to the newly formed Querétaro FC Gallos Blancos, membership in the Primera División was again limited to one year. By simultaneously taking over the second division license from Tampico-Madero FC , La Piedad secured at least one place in the Primera División 'A' for the next season . In the Apertura 2002/03 the Reboceros advanced to the final, which they lost to the Freseros de Irapuato - after two goalless encounters - 4-5 on penalties. Even before the start of the second half of the season, the team and their second division license moved to Celaya, where the former Celaya Fútbol Club was revived. CF La Piedad himself retired to the third division ( Segunda División ), where he played in the Zona Occidente (Group West). Since the introduction of the Liga de Ascenso in the 2009/10 season to promotion at the end of the 2012/13 season, La Piedad was again represented in the second division. However, the club could not perceive the promotion to the first division because its owners sold the license to CD Veracruz . CF La Piedad does not take part in any of the four professional and semi-profile teams in Mexico in the 2013/14 season.
