Estadio Plan de San Luis Potosí is a football stadium in the Mexican city of San Luis Potosí , the capital of the state of the same name . It served the two local clubs Atlético Potosino and Club San Luis as their home ground for decades. His name is reminiscent of the Plan de San Luis Potosí published in the city in 1910 . This is a document by which the author, Francisco Madero, protested against the dubious election result that had once again declared the long-time dictator Porfirio Díaz as head of state of Mexico .

The stadium was opened on November 20, 1957 in the presence of the then Mexican President Adolfo Ruiz Cortines and inaugurated in December 1957 as part of a second division match between Club San Luis and Petroleros de Salamanca (0-2).
In 1962 a disaster struck the stadium during a political event. A wall collapsed due to overcrowding, leaving several dead and many injured.
The stadium was the home of Liga MX in the 1970s and 1980s when Potosino and San Luis played in the first division for a total of 19 years. In the 1976/77 season, city derbies were even held in the top Mexican football league in the Estadio Plan de San Luis . The first took place on December 16, 1976 with Potosino home rights and ended 1: 1. The goalscorers were Eduardo Cisneros in the 31st minute for the hosts and Ricardo Mendoza in the 80th minute for San Luis. The second leg on April 24, 1977 decided San Luis with the goals of Herminio Céspedes (75th) and Juan Ramón Ocampo (88th) 2-0 in his favor.
The last first division game in the "Coloso de Alamitos" took place on June 9, 1989 between Potosino and UANL Tigres (1-0). The goal scorer was José Alfredo García.
