Swiss Football Championship 2005/06
The Axpo Super League 2005/06 was the 109th season of the top Swiss league in men's football. Ten teams took part. The Swiss champions were FC Zurich .
The Challenge League 2005/06 was the 108th season of the second highest Swiss league in men's football. Eighteen teams took part in the Challenge League. FC Luzern became champions in the Challenge League .

Season overview
The reigning champions FC Basel took the lead early on and took first place without interruption from the sixth round of the Super League . Recently, however, FC Zurich was able to catch up and in the last championship round in Basel there was a big final game of first-placed versus second-placed. This was won by FC Zurich in the 93rd minute with 1: 2 and, thanks to the better goal difference, ousted FC Basel with equal points from first place. Zurich achieved its first championship title in 25 years and with its tenth title also received a championship star . Thus, the series of FC Basel ended with 59 home games without defeat. After the game there were riots .

Season overview
After FC Luzern started the season with 3 defeats, they remained unbeaten in 31 games in a row until the end of the season and were sovereign champions of the Challenge League , which was promoted directly to the Super League. The FC Sion , the table Second, denied the Barrage against Neuchatel Xamax . The Sioners succeeded and rose to the Super League.
