The SC Zofingen is a football club from the city of Zofingen . The association was founded on August 10, 1896. The first team currently plays in the first division , the fourth highest Swiss league.

history

1970-1979

In 1971 they rose to the 2nd division, two years later even to the 3rd division. Thanks to a 1-1 draw in the last game of the season, they saved themselves from relegation to the fourth division in 1974. A year later, the SC Zofingen rose again to the 2nd division.

1980-1989

After successful years, they were relegated to the 3rd division in 1984. In 1989 SC Zofingen won the championship. However, the promotion games could not be won, so the club continued to play in the 3rd division.

1990-1999

In 1990 the club was again champion, but could not win the promotion games again. In a dramatic play-off against Kölliken in Lenzburg , they only failed in the penalty shoot-out. In 1992, after a season with only one defeat, you could move up to the second division and establish yourself there.

2000-2008

In 2001 you could move up to the 2nd league interregionally and a year later you were promoted to the 1st division. After solid championships, SC Zofingen suddenly managed to get into the relegation zone in the 2007/08 season. Andy Egli was hired as coach for the last five games of the season . With him it was possible to secure relegation.

2008–2012

In 2009/2010, the 1st league team was led by Peter Schädler. Relegation in the 08/09 season was ensured on time. In the 09/10 season the team never really moved. 5 laps before the end, the club management decided to part with the coach P.Schädler. The rudder was taken over by the former NLA kicker Mirko Pavlicevic (Swiss champion with FC Aarau 1993), he led the team confidently out of the relegation regions, maintaining the league without any effort. In the 10/11 season, after a very good preliminary round (3rd place), a significant change in the squad was made in the spring. The team finished the championship in secured midfield without ever having been involved in the relegation battle.

The 2011/2012 season brought some changes to the Fanion team . At the moment the first team consists mainly of former juniors and young players. The team finished the preliminary round in 14th place and strengthened the second round with individual players in order to avoid the relegation battle at the end of the season.
