The Sportclub Cham is a football club from Cham in the canton of Zug . The club plays in the Promotion League , the third highest Swiss league in Switzerland.

history

The club was founded on June 14, 1910 as the first football club in the canton of Zug under the name 'Football-Club Cham'.

The club's first team played in the regional leagues for several decades until they were promoted to the first division for the first time in the 1998/99 season after successful promotion games against Blue Stars Zurich . The direct relegation to the then newly established 2nd interregional league was followed by the second promotion to the 1st league in the 2002/03 season.

In the 2006/07 season, the Fanion team succeeded in fourth place in Group 2 in the promotion round, in which it was able to prevail against Étoile Carouge and FC Biel-Bienne and for the first time was promoted to the second-rate Challenge League , from which, however, the immediate Relegation took place.

In the 2014/15 season he was promoted to the promotion league as the first league champion.

Stadion

The SC Cham stadium is called 'Eizmoos' and has a capacity of 1,800 spectators, which was achieved in the 2006 cup game against FC Aarau . The Eizmoos has six grass pitches and one sand court. This was replaced by an artificial turf pitch in the 2010/2011 season and the entire club infrastructure was expanded. An additional cloakroom building was built and a covered grandstand was created. The entire area surrounding the field was also redesigned so that the club can meet the increasing demand for capacity in the future.

Since the main pitch in Eizmoos did not meet the infrastructure requirements of the Challenge League, the club played the home games of the Challenge League season at the Herti Allmend stadium in Zug with 4,900 seats.
