Schnitzelparadies is a romantic comedy by director Martin Koolhoven , which was made in 2005 in the Netherlands. It is based on the novel Lehrjahre im Schnitzelparadies by Khalid Boudou .
action
High school graduate Nordip should study medicine according to his father's wishes. Instead, the young Dutchman of Moroccan origin works secretly in a hotel kitchen, where the multicultural staff get into strange entanglements. Meanwhile, Nordip falls in love with Agnes, the niece of the hotel manager.
Reviews
Schnitzelparadies was often seen as a “multi-cultural comedy”, but in contrast to Kebab Connection , which was released in Germany in the same year, the film is not just a “ culture-clash-comedy ” ( Schnitt.de ). In contrast to the book, the film hardly deals with the pitfalls of integration, but the comedy as a whole is “catchy fare, occasionally garnished with peppers”, according to the Stuttgarter Zeitung.
Awards
On December 19, 2005, Schnitzelparadies was awarded gold for over 100,000 visitors in the Netherlands. Mimoun Oaïssa received the Golden Calf for best supporting actor for his performance, and the film was nominated in three other categories. The writer of the script implementation was awarded the prize for the best script at the Skip City International D-Cinema Festival .
