history

Foundation and beginning

In 1924 a group of young men founded the football club under the name "Düdingen Football Club". This group met in July 1924 at the Hotel Bahnhof, Düdingen for the founding meeting. The first board of the club consisted of the

  • President Romain de Meyer, his
  • Vice President Jules Sapin and the
  • Treasurer Louis Vuarnoz.

Since the newly founded club was initially not affiliated with the Swiss Football Association, it played a number of friendly matches. Especially in the summer months - several of the players were students and some were only present on site during this time - every opportunity was then taken to play football. The first games were successful. In Gurmels , the hosts were defeated 2: 1. A 2-0 victory against St. Niklaus-Freiburg looked out and then FC Flamatt was defeated with a narrow result of 1-0 . Again two successes against Freiburg II and again Gurmels closed the season. After it was founded in 1924, the Düdingen football club was able to find its first playing field near the Brugera forest. From 1931 the Düdinger footballers played on a leased field near Hasliweg.

1970s and first ascent

After the repeated promotion to the second division in 1974, the first team of the SCD played for five years in the second division. In the 1978 season, SC Düdingen succeeded for the first time a German-Friborg club to win the 2nd league championship title. In the following promotion games for the first division but failed the Düdinger. The following year the promotion games were reached again and this time the team defeated their opponents and rose to the first division for the first time, but relegated again a year later.

Waeber era and second rise

Towards the end of the millennium, the successful coach Jean-Claude Waeber took over the Düdinger team in the 2nd division. After advancing to the second interregional league, the SCD rose to the first division for the second time in 2005. The following 1st league season ended with 31 points from 30 games in 13th place. Thus, relegation could be prevented and you were allowed to play in the first division again in the 2006/07 season. Until the winter break you could rarely win and found yourself in a relegation zone in the middle of the season. Long-time coach Waeber has been replaced by former national player Adrian Kunz. The SC Düdingen ultimately stayed in the first division. In 2009, the SC Düdingen had to relegate under coach Martin Weber, but was able to secure the league at the green table (forced relegation of higher-class teams). For the new 2009/10 season, the focus was on local talent. This and the arrival of the experienced players Adrian Schneuwly and Pascal Jenny were the cornerstone of the most successful season in the club's history: 4th place in the first division with 47 points and a goal difference of 62:49 from 30 games.
