The FC Schötz is a Swiss football club from the community Schötz in the canton of Lucerne . The club currently plays in the first division , the fourth division in Switzerland.
history
The club, founded in 1927, rose to the second division for the first time in 1962 . In this league, however, the team could not last long and was relegated again. 1981 and 1986 succeeded two more times the promotion to the fifth highest division. In the Swiss Cup of the 1995/96 season, FC Schötz surprisingly qualified for the quarter-finals after beating FC Schaffhausen 2-0 in the round of 16 . After a goalless extension, Schötz was only defeated on penalties against the National League A club FC St. Gallen .
In the same season, the club also rose to the first division for the first time . In the following years the club several times was narrowly defeated in the first promotion to the National League B . After the 2005/06 season, the league was not maintained and the club rose to the 2nd interregional league . Only a year later, the resurgence could be celebrated. In the 2008/09 season, third place in Group 3 of the 1st league was reached, which meant that FC Schötz was allowed to participate in the promotion games to the Challenge League . In the qualifying round the Étoile Carouge FC was defeated, in the final round they lost to SC Kriens and missed promotion. In the 2009/10 Swiss Cup , the team lost 3-2 to Super League representatives FC Luzern in the first round .
Stadion
FC Schötz plays its home games at the Wissenhusen sports field. The capacity is 1,300 spectators, of which 300 are seats and 1,000 are standing. The facility was rebuilt in 2002 after the old venue was demolished. The main playing field consists of natural grass. An artificial turf field has been available since October 2014, on which 1st division games can also be played.
