Burim Kukeli (born January 16, 1984 in Janoš near Đakovica , SFR Yugoslavia ) is an Albanian football player of Kosovar origin who grew up in Switzerland and is under contract with SC Kriens in the Challenge League (Switzerland).
Career

Burim Kukeli was born as an Albanian in what was then the Yugoslav Socialist Autonomous Province of Kosovo . In 1987 the family moved to Switzerland after their father. He learned to play football in Switzerland in the youth department of FC Solothurn . Later he was in the squad of FC Wangen at Olten and SC Zofingen . At FC Schötz he received his first appearances in the first division (third class) in the 2007/08 season . In January 2008 he was signed by FC Luzern , where he played ten Super League games for Luzern in spring 2008 . In the 2009/10 season he made it into the starting line-up of Lucerne and scored two goals in 49 games, including cup games. Between 2012 and 2017, Kukeli played for FC Zurich and won the national cup there once . Then he played for FC Sion . Due to various injuries, however, he only made 13 league games for the first team. Before the start of the 2019/20 season, it was announced that Kukeli would move to SC Kriens in the Challenge League .
National team
In the summer of 2012, Kukeli obtained Albanian citizenship in a quick process. He was able to play for the Albanian team in the games for the 2014 World Cup qualification against Cyprus and Switzerland in September 2012 . He finally made his debut on September 7, 2012 in a 3-1 win over Cyprus.
In the UEFA EURO 2016 in France, he was in the Albanian contingent added. In the opening game against Switzerland and in the second game against France he was in the starting line-up. In both matches he received a yellow card, so that he was suspended for the last game against Romania. Then the team dropped out.
