Jan Elvedi (born September 30, 1996 in Zurich ) is a Swiss football player . The defender is under contract in Germany with SSV Jahn Regensburg .

Career

Together with his twin brother Nico , Elvedi was trained first at FC Greifensee and then up to the B-youth at FC Zurich . While Nico stayed there, Jan moved to FC Winterthur in 2011 , where he completed his football training. In spring 2014, Elvedi made his first appearance in the men's division, when he was in the starting line-up for the second men's team in Winterthur in the fourth-class first division . He was a permanent member of this team from the 2014/15 season and played 23 league games (three goals) as a regular player in variable defensive positions. At the same time, the defender was more often in the matchday squad of the first team, for which he was allowed to play once in the Challenge League . He was also integrated into them after good performances and used exclusively on the right defensive wing.

This was followed by a one-year loan to third division club SC Cham , where Elvedi played 27 league games as a regular, mostly in central defense. After his return, the defender no longer took part in Winterthur's game operations, but was sold to league rivals FC Wohlen . Here, too, Elvedi was able to prevail in the defensive area, but played with the team for relegation and left the club at the end of the season after they had not applied for a license for the upcoming Challenge League season. At SC Kriens , who had been promoted to the Challenge League, the Swiss player was immediately placed in central defense and only missed one league and one cup game in his first season . As a result, Elvedi kept his place in the defensive network and also represented captain Burim Kukeli in half of the season's games. He finished fourth with Kriens, had to concede at least the third goal with the team and had only one point less than the Barragetowner FC Vaduz .

In the summer of 2020 Elvedi then moved to Germany for second division club SSV Jahn Regensburg , with whom he signed a two-year contract. Christian Keller , director of professional football in Regensburg, praised Elvedi's “mentality”, his “athleticism and aggressiveness when playing against the ball” and his “skills in building up the game”.
