1st league (Switzerland)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In most Swiss sports leagues, the first division is after the National League A (NLA) and the National League B (NLB) and - if it exists - the National League C (NLC) or in football after the Super League and the Challenge League the next lower league.

Classification

While clubs from all over Switzerland are always put together in the NLA and in most sports in the NLB, the first division is often divided into regions. There are three regions in football and ice hockey . The next lower level is the 2nd league , etc. The lowest level in football (in which, however, a 1st League Classic and 1st League Promotion and a regional and an interregional 2nd league exist) is the 5th league, in ice hockey and in Chess the 4th division.

Soccer

In football, the first division is the highest amateur league. Since the 2012/13 season it has been divided into two divisions: The Promotion League ( 1st League Promotion until 2014 ) and the "old" 1st League, which has since been called the 1st League Classic .

The Promotion League consists of 16 clubs. The 1st league is played in three groups with 14 clubs each, divided according to geographical regions.

Floorball

In floorball there are two first leagues for women and men. The 1st league large field, the third highest league in Switzerland and the 1st league small field, the highest league on small field.
