The Category Superiore 2005/06 (meaning: the highest league ) was the 67th edition of the Albanian football championship and was organized by the national football association Federata Shqiptare e Futbollit .
As in the previous year , ten teams played against each other this season. The championship was played in two first and two second round matches. Each team competed four times against every other team. The season began on August 27, 2005 and ended on May 13, 2006.
Season course
On the seventh and eighth day of the match, promoted Besa Kavaja led the league. Then, however, followed six games without a win and by the winter break Besa was already ten points behind. The season ended with fifth place. KF Elbasani took over the championship lead on the ninth matchday and did not give it up until the end of the season. This is the second time the team has won the championship since 1984.
Defending champion KF Tirana had seventeen wins this season and had to be satisfied with the runner-up. Like Dinamo Tirana , they qualified for the UEFA Cup .
In addition to bottom of the table KS Lushnja , the second climber, Skënderbeu Korça , immediately relegated. Skënderbeu's descent was only sealed in a playoff against Teuta Durrës tied on points.
