The Skënderbeu Stadium ( Albanian Stadiumi Skënderbeu ) is a football stadium with an athletics facility in the Albanian city of Korça . It has a capacity of 12,000 spectators. The stadium is the home of the KF Skënderbeu Korça football club .
In 2016, it was one of two stadiums in Albania that had a tartan track for athletics .
history
An original structure was built in 1957 using stones from the Shën Gjergj Church. The stadium was named after the KF Skënderbeu Korça club. The stadium has been renovated several times. It was last completely renewed in 2011 by the current President Agim Zeqo and other sponsors and is now one of the most modern stadiums in the country.
The first international match in this stadium took place on November 15, 2011. The first international game for the KF Skënderbeu Korça was on July 13, 2011 the game against the champions from Cyprus, APOEL Nicosia (0: 2). Occasionally, international games were also played in Tirana - for example on August 6, 2013 against Shakhtar Qaraghandy - and after the opening of the Elbasan Arena in autumn 2014 also in Elbasan .
