Uwe Kober (born April 24, 1961 ) is a former German soccer player .

career

The midfielder made his debut in the 2nd Bundesliga for Rot-Weiss Essen on August 10, 1983, the second match day of the 1983/84 season , against SG Union Solingen . Kober made 29 games and scored six goals in his debut season. With RWE, however, he slipped to a relegation rank on the last match day of the season and was relegated to the amateur upper league of North Rhine , as the direct competitor Rot-Weiß Oberhausen won 4-0, while Essen lost 3-2 to Bundesliga promoted FC Schalke 04 . In the following two years Uwe Kober was an important part of the Essen league team. With the Rot-Weissen von der Hafenstrasse, he won the league championship in 1985 and 1986 and was promoted to the second division again in the second year. Thereupon the MSV Duisburg , relegated to the amateur camp, signed him . With the zebras , Kober developed alongside Michael Tönnies to a reliable goal scorer, in 84 league games he scored 51 goals. He was with the club in 1987 German amateur champion and 1988 and 1989 champion of the Oberliga Nordrhein. He led the MSV to promotion to the second Bundesliga in 1988/89 and in 1991 they even made promotion to the first Bundesliga. After 12 Bundesliga appearances in the 1991/92 season, Uwe Kober moved to the second division Wuppertaler SV for the 1992/93 season . With the club from the Bergisches Land he managed to stay up, but Kober lost his regular place due to injury in the following season and did not play a game. After relegation in 1994 he played for the WSV for one more season in the third-class Regionalliga West / Südwest .

Today Uwe Kober still plays in the traditional Bayer 04 Leverkusen team .
