The Klassenia Superiore 2016/17 was the 78th season of the highest Albanian league in men's football . It began on September 7, 2016 and ended on May 27, 2017 with the 36th matchday.

Defending champion and winner of the last six championships was KF Skënderbeu Korça , the reigning cup winner was KF Laçi . Movers were Luftëtari Gjirokastër and KS Korabi Peshkopi . KS Bylis Ballsh and KF Tërbuni Puka were no longer represented in the top division .

KS Korabi had to play its games in the Selman Stërmasi Stadium in Tirana because the stadium in Peshkopia did not meet the requirements of the league.

Champion was FK Kukësi , who won the Albanian football championship for the first time. The event was very close - the three leading teams had only three points difference. These are the same teams that took the top positions last year. Skënderbeu, who had previously won the championship six times in a row, finished third this year. Tied on points, but with a better goal difference, Partizani finished second again.
