The Premyer Liqası 2016/17 , officially called Unibank Premyer Liqası after a sponsorship agreement , was the 25th season of the highest Azerbaijani league in men's football since it was founded in 1992. The round of the season began on August 6, 2016 and ended on April 29 2017 with the staging of the 28th match day.

On June 13, 2016, the AFFA announced that the two clubs FK Xəzər Lənkəran and Rəvan Baku FK had been refused the license for Premyer Liqası in the 2016/17 season. Since the places were not given to other clubs, the league started with eight teams.
