← Super League 2015/16
The Alka Superliga 2016/17 was the 27th season of the highest Danish division in men's football .
The defending champion was FC Copenhagen .
Since January 1, 2015, the league has been sponsored by the Alka Superliga , after the Danish insurance company Alka. The contract runs until mid-2018.
Mode changes
The league was increased to 14 clubs. The three newly promoted AC Horsens , Silkeborg IF and Lyngby BK were added.
The 14 teams initially competed against each other twice, so that 26 match days had to be completed. Afterwards, the six best placed teams met twice in a championship round, the remaining eight teams competed in two groups of playoffs for relegation and a Europa League place.
The champions qualified for participation in the second qualifying round of the 2017/18 UEFA Champions League . The runner-up will compete in the second qualifying round for the 2017/18 UEFA Europa League . The third-placed and the winner of the game "fourth place against play-off winner" will play in the first qualifying round for the 2017/18 UEFA Europa League.
