The Mascot Park (spelling: MASCOT PARK , until 2011: Silkeborg Stadium) was a football stadium in the Danish city of Silkeborg . It was the home ground of the football club Silkeborg IF (SIF for short) until 2017 . Silkeborg is located in the municipality of the same name in the Midtjylland region . The venue was owned by the Silkeborg Municipality. The attendance record was set in 1995 at the game between SIF and Brøndby IF . 12,228 visitors gathered in the stadium for the game.

history

The stadium, inaugurated in 1925, last offered 10,000 seats (5,500 of which were seats). In 1943 the stadium got a building with changing rooms and showers. In 1946 a west grandstand was to be built. However, these plans were not implemented at the time. The gymnastics club Silkeborg Gymnastikforening inaugurated the self-built clubhouse in 1955 . A grandstand in the west was then built in 1962; on which the sponsor boxes are today. This was followed by the spectator rank in the east and the grandstands behind the gates.

A thorough renovation was carried out in 2000. Three new stands were built. Only the uncovered south stand with standing room was left in its shape. The names of the ranks were sold to sponsors. The west side bears the name Jyske Bank grandstand . The rear grandstand in the north was named Jyske Finans grandstand and in the east is the Designa grandstand . The grandstands are covered with a light, translucent construction. On the west tier is the business lounge, which can be rented for various events.

At the end of August 2011, Silkeborg IF Invest A / S signed a sponsorship agreement with MASCOT International A / S, a manufacturer of workwear . In addition to the shirt sponsorship, the contract also includes the renaming of the Silkeborg Stadium to MASCOT PARK . The sponsorship will initially run until the end of 2013.

In 2017, Silkeborg IF moved to the JYSK Park , which was inaugurated at the end of July that year and has 10,000 seats, including 6,000 seats. At the beginning of August 2017, the almost one hundred year old Mascot Park was demolished.
